Congratulations to the recipients and nominees of the 2011 Kevin Kline Awards!

The Sixth Annual Kevin Kline Awards ceremony held March 28, 2011, was a fun-and-laugh-filled night that saw 10 theatre companies honored with 25 awards.

PTAC is now PTC.  The Professional Theatre Awards Council has changed its name to the Professional Theatre Council of St. Louis.  This change is not so much to deemphasize the Kevin Kline Awards, which are still the primary catalyst of PTC's mission to promote and celebrate excellence in St. Louis Professional Theatre, but rather to emphasize PTC's reinvigorated commitment to expanding its programming and services.

The most obvious example of new and improved service is this new website, developed in conjunction with Graphic Panacea and featuring content supplied by PTC's constituent theatres.  This website will become a one-stop-shop for St. Louis theatre-goers who want to know more about the vast array of theatrical productions available to them.  Every theatre company has its own devoted page, with links to websites, contact info, and maps, as well as a history of the theatre and some representative production photos.  And every production mounted by these theatres will be featured in the Coming Soon and Now Playing modules, as well be featured on its own designated page, complete with dates, times, tickets, box office info, and show description.

Along with a new name and a new website, PTC has unveiled a new logo.  Working with designer and Kevin Kline Award nominee Travis Estes, PTC developed this new logo based on local sculptor Jesse Vonk's now iconic trophy design.  The K-shaped curtain--such an intrinsic part of PTC's history and the Kevin Kline Awards ceremonies--is paired with a timeless, glamourous font to evoke the sense of excellence, excitement, and quite frankly fun that PTC hopes to impart to theatre-goers across the area.  Wherever a patron sees the new Kevin Kline Awards logo, a good night of theatre awaits.

Keep checking back at, not only to keep track of the myriad shows running right here in St. Louis, but also to participate in PTC's plans to expand our programming and services, always with an eye on getting the word out to theatre-goers-to-be.

Bells & Whistles!

So the new Kevin Kline Awards website is finally here! Actually, it is the website for the Professional Theatre Council of St. Louis. Regardless, we plan on turning this website into a one-stop-shop for professional St. Louis Theatre. Here are just a few of the features you can look forward to…

The home page will always list what shows are currently running in St. Louis. Want to catch a show some Friday night but not sure what’s open? Hit Now Playing and be overwhelmed by the incredible selection of options in St. Louis. Every show will also have its own page, with all the information you’ll need to make reservations, find the venue, and have a terrific night out.

Start booking your theatre-going adventures weeks in advance by checking out what shows are just over the horizon. Waiting is such wonderful agony!

Ever wonder what your director keeps in his fridge, or what your co-star reads in her spare time, or what drove your costumer to become a theatre professional? Check out the rotating 10 Questions With… feature to learn a little more about the amazing folks who make up the St. Louis theatre community. Every two weeks or so a new artist will be featured, and of course you can dig through the archive to figure out what makes your crazy stage manager tick!

Every member theatre will have a page, which will list all contact and location info, season info, and pretty much everything you’ll need to know about them. Of course if you feel the need to further stalk a theatre, we’ll link you directly to their site.

Read about the judging process or even apply to be a judge yourself. Dig through all the previous nominees and winners and relive the exciting ceremonies. Meet the judges up close and personal. Linger over our new logo.

Not only are we aiming to re-launch the education program and continuing round tables, but we are working on seminars, classes, auditions, job listings, headshot weekends, individual memberships and a local talent on-line directory, anything and everything we can do to serve not only the theatre community, but get the word out to the public about the incredible array of theatre-going options they have available to them. Check back often for info on all these programs, and if you have an idea you want to share, you can always contact us and let us know about it!

Sign up for our newsletter, and receive “NOW PLAYING” listings right in your inbox! You’ll also be the first to know of any other news or upcoming events.
