Theatre History/Description: ACT INC was founded in 1979 by a group of actors who wanted the opportunity to perform in the summer. The new group took as its charter the production of “lesser-known works of major playwrights”. ACT INC performed at the Studio Theatre in the Loretto-Hilton till 1996, then moved to Fontbonne University except for two-years (1999-2000) at the College of Pharmacy while Fontbonne built its new Fine Arts Building.
ACT INC is seriously dedicated to reviving “forgotten gems of theatre history”. The average age of the scripts we produce is over fifty years. We feel that in theatre, as in life in general, it is important not to forget our history. We are the only company in the Mid-west with such a mission. And so, as we say, “when you’re looking forward to looking back . . . it’s ACT INC for you!”
