Theatre History/Description: Launching as Midnight Productions in 1997, the Company has presented signature productions – most St. Louis premieres and many original plays written by the Company – in a wide variety of (often site-sympathetic if not specific) sites. Focusing on smaller works (and spaces), Midnight’s Artistic Director Joe Hanrahan and Associate Director Sarah Whitney continue to unearth compelling one or two-character shows, and present them when they find them, where it’s appropriate.
Meanwhile Hanrahan fills in the open spaces on the calendar acting and writing for other St. Louis groups (The Black Rep, Upstream, OnSite) and Sarah directs for other St. Louis theatres (The Orange Girls, The Hotchner Festival at Washington University) and continues to develop new work for the stage in her native Chicago.
